Safeguarding at EKCSS
Advice and information on our approach to safeguarding.
EKCSS is committed to safeguarding our students, staff and visitors and expects anyone connected to our school to share this commitment. We are dedicated to fostering a nurturing environment where safeguarding is central to everything we do.
Our dedicated safeguarding team consists of staff from various pastoral care areas within the school. They collaborate closely with colleagues internally and maintain strong connections with external organisations in line with the latest Working Together to Safeguard Children and Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance to promote the safeguarding and wellbeing of all students and staff.
Please also see the Local Safeguarding Children Partnership for more information. We ensure our staff receives regular training and updates on all aspects of safeguarding. We believe that building strong relationships with students is key to fostering their safety.
If you are concerned about the welfare of a child, please speak to the Designated Safeguarding Lead or a Year Group Manager for Safeguarding.

Pastoral Support
Our pastoral care is be based on building personal relationships with each child, understanding their strengths and recognising their potential.
Working solely within their small year groups and working with you - their parents who know them best - our staff will know your young people as individuals so we can provide the teaching, help and guidance they need to achieve their best.
Our year group managers are the centre of care. Being a smaller school, we are better suited to create a sense of family, and all staff, do everything they can to ensure our students have everything they need to be successful. There are also be a range of support mechanisms, including safeguarding, attendance, mental health, SEND, and mentoring.
Your child will attend daily mentoring time in small groups. Their mentors will create a safe environment for the children in this group, a family atmosphere where issues are dealt with openly, and discussions are had, which enables students to develop their character. This will sit alongside a formalised character education programme focussing on developing key character traits and advertising routes into careers which are suited to both individual students and the wider community.
