Here at EKCSS we are so proud to showcase our students' talents and skills and what better way to do that than in a national writing challenge?
The work of the Big Writing Challenge winners will be brought to life in a printed book! All winners will be invited to a VIP launch of the Big Writing Challenge 2027 book, where they will get to meet fellow authors and receive an award together with copies of the book to share with their families and friends.
And look, is that a core value I spot? This year’s entries will focus on KINDNESS.

We warmly invite all of our Year 11 students and their families to our Year 11 Information Evening.
📆 Tuesday 6th October 2026
This important evening will provide families with key information about Year 11 and the GCSE examinations, as well as the support available to help students prepare for the year ahead.
There will also be an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, meet Heads of Department, access revision resources and find out more about 16+ transition and next steps.

Thank you to Mr White for sharing these photographs of recent work from Year 8 in Design Technology.
Students have been learning about the properties of acrylic and how it can be shaped and formed using different manufacturing processes.
For this particular project, the students have used a hot wire strip heater to heat and bend the acrylic into the required shape for their coat hooks. They have followed a design and make process, developing their ideas before selecting and preparing their acrylic, accurately measuring and marking out, using the strip heater to form the material, and then finishing and refining their products.

Year 10 students experienced an immersive lesson last week where they toiled in the workhouse. Faced with fiddly, mind numbing tasks, students were encouraged to build empathy and understanding of conditions in the 19th Century workhouse... At least for a little while. 13 Likes
