On 1st July 2025, students from EKCSS proudly took part in a truly extraordinary global event – one that not only brought together budding young chefs from all corners of the world but also made history.
Hosted by the Jamie Oliver Cooking School, the live event was an official attempt to break the Guinness World Records™ title for the largest cookery lesson held across multiple venues. And we’re thrilled to announce… the record has been smashed!
10,515 cooks spanning six continents and 42 countries rolled up their sleeves and cooked together, united by a shared purpose: to demonstrate that every child, everywhere, should leave school equipped with essential life skills – and that includes the confidence to cook.
From learning about nutrition and food safety, to mastering knife skills and understanding how to budget, this event championed Jamie Oliver’s core belief that cooking is a vital part of a well-rounded education.
The atmosphere was electric, and the sense of community, both locally and globally, was something truly special. Our EKCSS students were front and centre in this momentous occasion, and we couldn’t be prouder of their enthusiasm, teamwork, and commitment.
Here’s to the power of good food, great teaching, and unforgettable experiences. We were part of history – and what a delicious day it was! 32 Likes
Today in Food Technology, our talented Year 9 EKCSS Super Chefs showcased their impressive culinary skills, built up throughout Key Stage 3, by preparing a delicious and nutritious meal: garlic and herb chicken served with roasted vegetables and couscous.
In addition to refining their practical cookery techniques, pupils were introduced to the concept of dovetailing—an essential skill that will support them as they progress into Key Stage 4. They also explored the importance of sustainability in the kitchen by using leftover and store-cupboard ingredients, helping to reduce food waste while working within a budget.
All ingredients used were sourced from our freezer and dry store, encouraging creativity and resourcefulness in the kitchen. The lesson was a fantastic opportunity for students to see how healthy, flavourful meals can be made simply and affordably—with a strong focus on nutrition, planning, and sustainability.
Well done to our budding chefs! 25 Likes

The visit formed a vital part of our Careers offer, allowing students an opportunity to experience an enterprise activity while also asking questions about life in higher education.
Students were experimenting with their creativity as they designed their own trainers, while also utilising their oracy skills by presenting their opinions and designs to the group.
All five classes threw themselves into the workshop and we look forward to running it again next year! 27 Likes
